Merrill Field Control Tower Cab

Atop the Orin Seybert Tower is the air traffic control tower cab that served at Anchorage’s Merrill Field for 40 years, from 1962 to 2002. Prior to 1962, the airport boasted only an elevated beacon on a wooden observation tower. This perch now provides a commanding view of take-offs and landings at Lake Hood, the world’s largest seaplane base, along with a live real-time feed of Lake Hood air traffic control communications.
